I'd suggest an exception for historically important buildings. Otherwise, we could lose some exceptional stuff like the 1877 Marcus Garvey Building (Liberty Hall), the oldest commercial building in Oakland, ("Souley Vegan") and the former Western Pacific station around the corner, complicate efforts to preserve what's left of the Seventh St. blues district, among many others.

With the exception of the mentality ill, it's choice. To think otherwise is silly.

On behalf of the elder activists who have been involved in the struggle against coal in Oakland, let me offer love and admiration to the youth who are bringing new energy and new voices to our cause. We are at a defining moment in our local history.

this is a bad review. the "pho" broth is too one dimensional, too rich and too sweet.

The creative, passionate activism of young people is an inspiration and encouragement in these difficult times. They deserve a better world than we are leaving them!

I didn't renew my subscription to the East Bay Times because I wasn't receiving the newspaper. I complained about that.

I stopped subscribing to the East Bay Times because I wasn't receiving it. The paper doesn't hire the people who deliver it.

Mary, yes there are massive IT boondoogles all the time. Mostly because govts don't have the expertise in IT infrastructure as in say building construction.

Skinner is selling out the bay area to developers just like she sold out the bay area to big oil with her cap and trade scam. 827 is a scam to usurp local control and give it to market rate developers.

Gary, the building department would be a clearer case of what the City is doing right or wrong on big IT projects because the planning and building staff would have every incentive to support a good system. There must be tremendus push from the local real estate industry also.

We should encourage more businesses at BART stations over residences. By far the most used BART stations are downtown SF, Berkeley and Oakland.

Overlooked in this article wan any mention of vitamin D. African-American women have lower 25-hydroxyvitamin D concentrations than white-American women, and these concentrations are strongly linked to risk of preterm birth. All pregnant women should take 4000 IU/d (100 micrograms) vitamin D3 and continue taking it while nursing.

We love the Alameda Flea Market and go just about every month. In the warm weather months they get as many as 1000-1200 vendors.

I LOVE their BBQ sauce all over the hot links, beef, chicken and ribs. And that potato salad is perfect to off-set the hotter sauces (if you choose them).
