Re: Oakland Asks District Attorney to Investigate Alleged Bribes by Cannabis Lobbyist

Notice how the author fails to mention that Larry Reid didnt report this bribery attempt for a month, and only reported it after Minor immediately reported the Spain vacation offer attempt.

If this were an OPD official or property developer that didnt report something they should have reported?

Legalize marijuana is now a law. What is the use of law if there are still users and growers are convicted and go in jail.

I do have a solution and agencies even creditors cannot solve. I have a problem on my credit report, for the past 4 or 5 years I have paid non-stop and on time, however, CreditExpert still shows that all payments are late, how can this be?

Len, perhaps what I should have said is that if Oakland had a strong City Manager, as opposed to a City Administrator, perhaps the results would be different. The difference may seem subtle to most, but as a person with years of experience in both systems, there is a major difference.

" ... you have no problems in life other than the sight of homeless people and their tents makes you uncomfortable or scared."

Not so concerned about being uncomfortable, but AM concerned about having my car broken into, my bike stolen for parts, the guy from the homeless camp who tried to rob me when I was jogging Lake Merritt, whoever's been shitting on the sidewalk outside my house, needles on BART seats, etc.

Homeless advocates keep trying to gaslight us into thinking we're bad for worrying about crime, filth, needles, feces on the sidewalk, and a very real possibility of becoming a disease vector for something like tuberculosis (which happened in San Diego).

So sick of "have-nots" demanding more and more from people who have worked hard or been smart enough to invest instead of buying big screen TVs and boom boxes.

Gary, I understand your point, and it's valuable hearing it from someone who worked under both systems.

I'm tempted to say more power to a single elected mayor is usually a more accountable structure than spreading that power over an entire council.

I'm glad this didn't become a hit piece on Ms. Benavidez. She always seemed to be REALLY passionate about the Center and the Lake in general but seemingly ended up over her head.

GrassrootsHealth, a non-profit committed to moving the research on vitamin D into practice, would like everyone reading this article to also read this blog:

There is an intervention that could GREATLY help the black community, pregnancy, preterm birth, and infant success.

Come on EBX, I expect you to a better job of providing factual context for your articles. I know that your page space is limited, but in this case, a simple Google search of the project would tell you that the issues here are more complicated than your attention grabbing headline suggests.

Let's see... The city COULD afford about one million a year to host one professional sports team for the past twenty years, and somehow couldn't find the funds for something that would educate the cities children.
